On the cusp of a new era
Associate Professor Christopher Tully is one of the faculty members
involved in the next generation of elementary particle experiments at
the Large Hadron Collider at CERN (Geneva, Switzerland). The results
of these experiments will challenge our basic intuition of what makes
the laws of physics tick. Of particular importance is how the
concept of mass and charge emerge at the subatomic level. The Large
Hadron Collider is going into operation this year, and significant
new physics results may emerge in 2009.
